We register your business for ESI, and add your staff.

Once we have all your documents, it takes just a few hours. Then we can file your ESI every month. Not sure if ESI applies to you? Call us and we'll check.

Already registered? ESI monthly filing

  • 25+ years in practice
  • 35 years our founder worked at EPFO
  • 100+ clients
  • 3,500+ employees covered

Does your business need ESI registration?

  • 10 employees or more
  • ₹21,000 a month or less in ESI wages: these staff must join

ESI (Employees' State Insurance) gives your staff medical care, and pay when they can't work because of sickness, injury or maternity. Your business must register for ESI when it has 10 or more employees. This is the same in every state. ESI does not apply to seasonal factories.

Count all your staff:

  • temporary and casual staff
  • workers a contractor sends to work for you
  • staff on high salaries

Don't count: apprentices (trainees under the Apprentices Act), the owner of the business, or its partners. Is your business a company? Call us to check how to count directors.

Once ESI applies, it stays. It does not stop if your staff later drop below 10.

For some risky kinds of work, ESI can apply even with 1 employee. Call us to check.

Staff with ESI wages up to ₹21,000 a month must be in ESI. ESI wages are the month's pay without some items, like HRA (house rent allowance) and overtime. We check this for you.

What we do for you

No office visits needed. We register businesses in Mangalore (Mangaluru) and Bangalore.

First

We check and ask

  • We check if ESI applies to your business, and count your staff with you.
  • We tell you which documents we need. The list depends on your type of business.
  • You send them to us by email.

Next

We register your business

  • We register your business with ESIC (the ESI office).
  • Once we have all your documents, it takes just a few hours.
  • You get an ESI code number for your business. It has 17 digits.

Then

We add your staff

  • We add your staff to ESI on the ESIC website, if the rules cover them.
  • Staff who already have an IP number (each employee's ESI number, which stays the same for life) keep it.
  • We create one for the others.

Who's behind it

35 years our founder worked at EPFO (the PF office)

Medu Thirumaleshwara Bhat started Medu Consultancy in 2000. He worked at EPFO (the PF office) for 35 years. Our team registers businesses for ESI and PF. So we know which documents and details a new ESI registration needs.

About us

After registration

ESI must be paid every month, by the 15th of the next month.

Each month, the employee pays 0.75% of their ESI wages, and you pay 3.25%. That is 4% in total. You take the employee's part from their salary. Staff on very low daily pay don't pay their part, but you still pay yours.

We can do this work for you every month. You send us salary details. We file your monthly ESI details with ESIC and email you the challan (the ESI payment slip). Pay it by the 15th of the next month, or send us the amount and we pay it.

Common questions

Just a few hours, once we have all your documents.

It depends on your type of business. Call us and we'll tell you exactly what to send.

Once ESI applies to your business, staff whose ESI wages are ₹21,000 a month or less must be in ESI. For a person with a disability, the limit is ₹25,000. ESI wages are the month's pay without some items, like HRA (house rent allowance) and overtime. But ESI wages must be at least half the total pay. If they come to less, the difference is added to ESI wages. We work this out for you.

You need PF when you have 20 or more employees, counted the same way as for ESI. Once PF applies, it stays. We can register you for both. See PF registration for employers.

It depends on your business and what you need. Asking is free. Call us and we'll give you a quote.
